D&W Fresh Market Kicks Off Super Bowl Culinary Class

GRANDVILLE, Mich. - The D&W Fresh Market here is calling all football fans who love good food to be a part of one of the biggest food events of the year: Super Bowl XLII.

Under direction of chef Joe Cosgrove, students will roll up their sleeves and prepare indoor tailgating recipes for the Super Bowl recipes for sliders, ribs, wings and tenderloin with a gourmet twist. During the three-hour class, students will sample their creations and receive a packet of course materials, recipes and other products.

Retailers report that the most common sales increases are seen on prepared deli party trays, bakery items like cakes and cookies, and salty snacks. Super Bowl week is the third-highest sales period of the year for salty snacks, behind July 4 and Labor Day, at first and second respectively.

The event will be held on Thurs., Jan. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.; cost is $50 per student, and shoppers can register either by calling a toll free number visiting D&W Fresh Market's website.

Super Bowl XLII will take place Feb. 3, 2008 at University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Az. Kick-off is 6:18 p.m. EST.
