Fill 'er Up for Less at Kroger, No Matter What the Banner
The Kroger Co. said it is interconnecting the fuel discount programs at its various banners across the country so that its customers can earn discounts and redeem them for fuel price breaks at any of its stores and participating gas stations.
Most of the individual fuel discount programs offered by the banners under the Kroger corporate umbrella reward customers with a minimum of 10 cents off per gallon of gas for every $100 they spend in a store. The fuel discounts now are available and transferable at Kroger stores under the banners Kroger, Baker's, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry's, Gerbes, Hilander, Jay C, King Soopers, Owen's, Pay Less, QFC, Ralphs, Scott's, and Smith's.
Shoppers who use Kroger's 1-2-3 Rewards MasterCard can earn discounts up to 15 cents off per gallon of gas in participating markets, the grocer said.
Rodney McMullen, vice chairman for Cincinnati-based mega-grocer, said Kroger nationalized the fuel discount program in response to customer requests. "This is another example of the many ways we at Kroger are investing in meaningful savings for our customers to help them stretch their household budgets farther -- particularly when they need it the most," McMullen said.
Enhancing the fuel discount program is the latest in a series of initiatives Kroger has introduced or expanded to help customers save money on groceries, health care and other household staples.
Customers can take advantage of fuel discount programs offered by the Kroger and its banner stores by using their shopper cards. The expanded program is not available in some areas including Alabama, Michigan and the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area.
Kroger operates roughly 2,500 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two-dozen local banners.
