Food Lion, Lowes Foods in 'Got to Be NC' Campaign

SALISBURY, N.C. and WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Food Lion and Lowes Foods have signed on with the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to help promote the new "Got to Be NC" marketing campaign.

The retailers will be incorporating the "Got to Be NC" slogan into promotional materials, according to published reports. Several restaurant chains have also joined the campaign, which is designed to brand North Carolina agriculture products nationally and internationally.

Barbara Saulpaugh, v.p. at Lowes Foods, was quoted as saying that the chain conducts about 98 percent of its business in the state.

Other companies that have so far agreed to incorporate the "Got to Be NC" slogan into their promotional materials are Golden Corral Corp., Andy's Cheesesteaks & Cheeseburgers, K&W Cafeterias, and K&S Cafeterias.

Commodity associations and farm groups are also getting involved by promoting agricultural products on the sides of 34 trucks that the agriculture department's food-distribution division uses throughout the state.
