Fresh Perspectives: PG’s Fabulous Fall Forecast

As summer winds down, we at Progressive Grocer and Stagnito Media are gearing up for a series of exciting events and informative editorial projects that promises to ring in the all-important fall selling season in a big way.

In the midst of combing through research that will be presented in our upcoming 63rd annual Consumer Expenditures Study (CES) in September, our editorial team is also moving into full swing for the 15th annual Category Captains Awards competition, on deck for PG’s November issue, that recognizes overall excellence in innovative, creative, profit-generating category management platforms. Both the CES/Market Basket and Category Captains [[link to landing page]] issues are among our most anticipated, highly sought-after and continually referenced issues throughout the calendar year, and this year’s editions will be no exception.

We’re also looking forward to saluting our 2010 Top Women in Grocery winners, along with our slate of 2010 Green Grocers, at a gala cocktail and dinner celebration schedule for Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at the historic Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. Our 2010 Top Women winners will be feted at no charge, while other guests interested in joining us for this special occasion may purchase tickets for $225 per person; parties of five or more pay $200 per person. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Mallory Lickey at [email protected] or 224-632-8234. Be on the lookout for further details.

October will be especially significant for our PG team, which will pay tribute to the many outstanding contributions of H-E-B’s extended family of 72,000 partners with our 2010 Retailer of the Year award -- our highest annual honor. Widely known for its innovation and community service, we will provide a Texas-sized salute to the San Antonio-based regional grocer’s partners in tandem with the commemoration of the company’s 105th anniversary. Renowned for their outstanding service, fresh food, quality products, and an abiding commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability, H-E-B’s partners are the lifeblood of the company’s 315+ stores throughout Texas and Mexico that serve millions of customers in more than 150 communities.

Ranking high on the industry’s short list of "grocer’s grocers," we will take a look back – and look ahead – at why "No Store Does More" than H-E-B - with special emphasis on it's commitment to people and community.

Wishing you a wonderful rest of the summer, and, in common with our own expectations, a fantastic fall!
