Frieda's Karen Caplan to Speak to Potato Growers on Innovative Marketing

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. -- Karen Caplan, president of specialty produce distributor Frieda's Inc. based here, will share advice on how to turn commodities into innovations, when she speaks at the National Potato Council's (NPC) 58th annual meeting later this week in Newport Beach, Calif.

"For far too long, the potato industry has relied on selling an undifferentiated commodity in five, ten and even 20 pound consumer bags," said John Keeling, NPC's c.e.o. "Our members will benefit greatly from Caplan's insight on successfully developing and marketing innovative fruit and vegetable products."

"We were the first in the industry to offer a 100-percent satisfaction guarantee and that pledge is such an important part of how we relate to our consumers," said Caplan.

The NPC event provides an opportunity for members of NPC, the U.S. Potato Board and the Potato Association of America to discuss industry priorities and set strategies for the upcoming year.
