Gelson's Clerks in Southern California to Vote on Contract Again

ENCINO, Calif. - Unionized clerks at Gelson's Markets will vote this week on a new labor contract after rejecting it March 12, according to a report in The Orange County Register.

The contract to be considered for Gelson's 18 Southern California supermarkets is reportedly identical to the pact that was ratified by workers at organized clerks at Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons last month after a protracted strike and lockout.

The original proposal has changed since the new labor pact was first voted on by Gelson's clerks, according to an official from the Buena Park, Calif.-based United Food and Commercial Workers union Local 324, who was quoted in the paper and who declined to specify what the change was.
