Haggen's Henley Named President of Western Association of Food Chains
LOS ANGELES -- Dale Henley, president and c.e.o. of regional independent Haggen, Inc. last week was appointed president of the Western Association of Food Chains, a trade group that focuses on initiating and supporting educational programs that assist in the development of the food industry's employees.
Henley plans to emphasize increased participation in the Retail Management Certificate Program. The 10-course program is endorsed by the WAFC and has been implemented by community colleges in Washington, Oregon, California, and Arizona. The program provides students and grocery employees the opportunity to gain business skills and enhance career opportunities in the retail food industry.
Henley joined Haggen, Inc. in 1984 and became its president and c.e.o. in 1996. A graduate of Western Washington University, he also serves on the executive board of Washington Food Industry.
Haggen, Inc., based in Bellingham, Wash. operates 32 supermarkets and one stand-alone pharmacy in Washington and Oregon under the Haggen Food & Pharmacy, TOP Food & Drug, and Fairhaven Market names. Headquartered in Bellingham.
