Harris Teeter To Implement Phase Two of Web-based Workforce Management System

MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Harris Teeter here is moving to phase two of its shift from a paper-based workforce management system to a Web-based human resource system provided by Wayne, Pa-based Kenexa.

The upgrade follows Harris Teeter's earlier adoption of flagship performance management solution, CareerTracker, early this year. CareerTracker is designed to optimize workforce productivity by providing a platform for ongoing career development and performance management, according to Kenexa. The application will be used for Harris Teeter's 14,000-plus associates in 140 locations.

Harris Teeter's initial roll out of CareerTracker began in September 2004 for more than 1,500 associates. Phase two will be implemented for the remaining associates in early 2005.

"Our associates are our most valuable resource, and we strive to provide a professional environment that enables everyone to reach their full potential," said Doug Rhodes, s.v.p. of human resources at Harris Teeter, in a statement. "With Kenexa CareerTracker, we can facilitate our associates' growth by incorporating performance management into their everyday activities, which we are confident will also assist with organizational growth."

Rhodes said that CareerTracker has been "enthusiastically adopted" by managers during the initial implementation.

Kenexa c.e.o. Rudy Karsan added, "With Kenexa CareerTracker, Harris Teeter associates can set performance goals that directly align with business unit goals and roll up to organizational objectives, interact with their performance data to create individual development plans, and build career paths within the organization. As a result, associates are able to advance their professional development and contribute to the company's success."
