Harris Teeter Promotes 2 Senior Execs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Regional grocer Harris Teeter here has promoted two executives to take on major operations roles. Rodney "Rod" C. Antolock will now serve as e.v.p. of operations and merchandising, while Jerry L. Clontz will be s.v.p. of operations, the chain said.

Antolock has served as s.v.p. of operations/merchandising at Harris Teeter since March 2000. His current responsibilities include managing the operation of the company’s 166 stores and overseeing the expense management, marketing/manufacturing, and industrial engineering of the corporation. Antolock will now also be responsible for Harris Teeter’s two distribution centers.

Antolock came to Harris Teeter with more than 22 years of retailing experience with Albertson’s Food & Drug Stores. During his tenure at Albertson’s, Rod supervised over 300 different stores and held positions of v.p., director of retail operations, district manager, grocery sales manager, and store manager.

Clontz joined the Harris Teeter team as a bagger in 1971 and quickly rose to a variety of supervisory and management roles, including store manager, field specialist, district manager, regional trainer, regional director, and northern region v.p.

Clontz will report directly to Antolock and will oversee the operations team, including Harris Teeter’s southern region v.p. and northern and central regional directors.

Harris Teeter has stores in North and South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland, and Florida.
