Harveys Helps Schools With ‘Hometown Educational Rewards’

Harveys Supermarkets has rolled out its “Hometown Educational Rewards,” which enables shoppers to link their Harveys Hometown Rewards Key to participating local schools. When customers use their cards, they can raise funds for the school of their choice to uby educational equipment. The program runs through March 31, 2010.

“Everyone is being challenged by these touch economic times, including our schools,” noted Harveys VP and COO Tom Robinson. “By participating in the Harveys Hometown Educational Rewards program, our shoppers get the enhanced savings that come with the Hometown Rewards Key, as well as the chance to help provide much-needed educational resources for our local schools.”

Customers may enroll in the program online at www.harveys-supermarkets.com or by calling 800-352-4658. Once a customer’s Rewards Key is linked to a school, each purchase made with that Rewards Key earns the school points for various pieces of educational equipment. The points can be redeemed for over 2,000 learning tools, including computers, musical instruments, sports gear, software, books and art supplies. Last year, the chain helped 228 schools buy $150,000 in educational resources.

Operating 70 stores in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina, Harveys is an affiliate of Food Lion, LLC, in Salisbury, N.C., a subsidiary of Brussels-based Delhaize Group.
