Hooters Wings and Strips Coming to Grocery Outlets

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Hooters Foods, Inc. announced today that consumers will soon be able to shop for those signature wings and chicken strips in grocery outlets by November 2003.

These items will be added to the line of Hooters Foods products, which include Buffalo shrimp, wing sauces, and Hooters breading. Hooters Buffalo shrimp, chicken wings, and chicken strips comprise approximately 50 percent of all food sales in Hooters units around the world.

Hooters Foods was incorporated in 1992 and initially consisted of only wing sauces and breading.

With the introduction of Buffalo shrimp in 1998, the opportunity for other grocery products became apparent, so Hooters Foods is systematically expanding its line. "We were pleasantly surprised that the shrimp made such an impact on the marketplace," said v.p. of Hooters Foods Lee Usilton. "That made us realize that there might be a market for some of our other Hooters menu items."

Hooters, a restaurant chain that originated in Clearwater, Fla. in 1983, celebrates its 20th year anniversary this year.
