IFPA Revamps Conference, Trade Show

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Responding to a "mandate" from its members, the International Fresh-Cut Produce Association is revamping its upcoming annual conference and exhibition -- Fresh-Cut Expo 2005, scheduled for April 14 to 16 in Phoenix -- as a technology- and innovation-driven showcase for the fresh-cut industry.

"We heard an important mandate from our members and the overall fresh-cut industry to create a show that is heavily focused on doing business," said IFPA president Jerry Welcome. "We listened intensely to the industry and worked hard to develop a brand-new experience in trade show events -- a truly world-class, international innovation and technology solutions showcase. Fresh-Cut Expo will be all about improving business operations, solving the biggest headaches, and bringing new and innovative technology, product,s and services that will help our industry increase efficiency and grow profits."

Key elements of the revamped Fresh-Cut Expo 2005 include:

-Fresh-Cut Expo Web Site: A brand-new Web site dedicated to all things Fresh-Cut Expo, including important information about the show, details on who's exhibiting, online registration, and more.

-Solutions Showcase: A dedicated show floor area highlighting produce, machinery, materials, packaging, and business solutions for the fresh-cut processor, with hundreds of solutions experts on hand to address questions.

-Expanded "Fresh-cut Innovations" Conference: A fresh-cut classroom featuring educational sessions that will explore new ideas and concepts affecting the industry. Three business tracks -- operations, marketplace trends, and safety -- will focus on the everyday business challenges, issues, and opportunities faced by fresh-cut processors.

-"ExecTrends" Sessions: Enhanced breakfast sessions designed to help motivate business leaders and change the way executives think about the fresh-cut business.

-Pavilions: Five new pavilions to showcase trends and hot issues, including packaging, RFID, the science of fresh-cut, biosecurity, and "What's New in Fresh-Cut from Around the World."

-IFPA Fresh-Cuts Awards Banquet: Commemorating the achievements of industry leaders and celebrating the best and brightest in fresh-cuts.

-Expanded show floor hours: 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

-IFPA Sanitation and Regulatory Workshops: Covering key food safety issues for fresh-cut processors and the latest in federal government regulations affecting the industry.
