Jablonski Named New Shaw's President

WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Carl Jablonski has been appointed the new president of Albertsons' Shaw's Supermarkets Division here, effective yesterday, according to a memo sent to employees by Albertsons chairman and c.e.o. Larry Johnston. In his new role Jablonski will continue to report directly to e.v.p. of marketing and food operations Paul Gannon.

For the past five years Jablonski, a 36-year Albertsons veteran, has served as president of Albertsons' Eastern Division, including Malvern, Pa.-based Acme Markets and Albertsons' Florida region. During his tenure, Acme has not only maintained its position as market leader, but has also kept growing market share and earnings. The Florida region, which two years ago was combined with Acme to create the Eastern Division, has also performed well under Jablonski's guidance.

Before becoming Eastern Division president, Jablonksi held a number of leadership roles within the division, among them president of Acme Markets and s.v.p. of operations. He also was v.p. of operations for Acme and v.p. of operations and merchandising for Skaggs Alpha Beta in Texas.

"With his strong operations background and track record for driving sales and achieving results, Carl is a talented leader and I am pleased that he has accepted this important assignment," said Johnston in the memo. "With strong market positions in all six New England states, Shaw's is one of our companyís most important divisions, and I am confident that it will continue to thrive under Carl's leadership."

Previous Shaw's president Nicola DiFelice is leaving the company to spend more time with her family. A new president for the Eastern Division will be named soon, according to the memo.
