Kroger's John Hackett Inducted into KGA Hall of Fame

LOUISVILLE -- The Kentucky Grocers Association here will induct John Hackett, president of Kroger Co.'s Mid-South Division, into the trade group's Hall of Fame on July 14.

Hackett joined the Kroger Co. in 1963 as a clerk, and has spent his career advancing through many departments with increasing responsibilities and a proven record of success. In 1990, Hackett was named president of the Louisville Marketing Area for Kroger and in 2002, was appointed president of Kroger's Mid-South Division, which was formed by the merger of the chain's Louisville and Nashville marketing areas.

Kroger's Mid-South division includes the office and distribution center in Louisville and 160 stores and 77 fuel stations in Kentucky, central Tennessee, southern Indiana and southern Illinois. The division employs nearly 20,000 Kroger associates.

Hackett has served on the Louisville Economic Development Association, the Louisville Urban League as a Trustee, and the Metropolitan College Steering Committee. The efforts of Hackett, who also serves on executive board of the Dare to Care Food Bank, have resulted millions of dollars in food and monetary donations for the organization in recent years, said the KGA, noting his involvement with an annual golf outing that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the food bank.
