Marsh Supermarkets Readies for Illinois Debut

Indianapolis -- Marsh Supermarkets is in the final stages of preparing to open its first location in Illinois on Aug. 22 with a new 66,000-square-foot Lifestyle format store in Naperville, a community that was recently ranked third on Money Magazine's list of the top, "100 Best Places to Live" for 2005.

"We are very pleased to open our fourth new Lifestyle supermarket and our first entry into the Illinois market," said Don E. Marsh, chairman and c.e.o., noting that the new store's unique layout was designed to enhance consumers' grocery shopping experience. "Our focus is expansive fresh sections and several specialty boutique shops designed around consumers' lifestyles and shopping patterns," Marsh added.

Among the highlights of the new 24-hour store is a relaxing central courtyard hosting The Copper Moon, a gourmet coffee bar boasting assorted teas and fruit smoothies; a full-service meat shop featuring prime graded beef; a full-service pharmacy with convenient drop-off and pick-up counter, drive-through and private consultation room; and an interactive, "My Marsh" Savings Kiosk (at the store entrance) featuring store layout and recipes.

Designated in-store chefs will stage daily cooking demonstrations while a Sushi bar with authentic Japanese cuisine will enhance the international food bar containing worldwide delicacies. A fresh fruit and grain bar and a California-style pizzeria will also enhance the store's fresh statement, as will in-store, chef prepared entrees and side dishes with curbside pickup also available.

The bakery will feature an extensive array of baked goods and signature pies and will be highlighted by a European pastry shop while an international cheese shop will stock more than 100 varieties of cheese daily. The store will also feature a reading center, as well as a floral design and gift shop featuring a unique selection of international, everyday and seasonal gift items.

Don Marsh will preside over the grand opening festivities, which will include scan-to-win contests, product giveaways, in-store sampling and winemaker appearances, as well as an appearance by former Miss Universe Barbara Palacio, who has developed Amazonia by Barbara, an exclusive body care line.

Marsh's newest store, will open in the Naperville Marketplace retail center, which also hosts Bank One, and several other retail outlets.

Marsh operates 69 Marsh namesake supermarkets, as well as 38 LoBill Foods stores, eight O'Malia Food Markets, 160 Village Pantry convenience stores, two Arthur's Fresh Market stores, and one Savin*$ in Indiana and western Ohio. The company also operates Crystal Food Services, which provides upscale catering, cafeteria management, office coffee, coffee roasting, vending and concessions, and restaurant management, and Primo Banquet Catering and Conference Centers; Floral Fashions, McNamara Florist and Enflora -- Flowers for Business.
