NFI Starts Rich Catanzaro Memorial Scholarship Fund

McLEAN, Va. - The National Fisheries Institute's Fisheries Scholarship Fund has created a special memorial scholarship fund in the name of Rich Catanzaro, H-E-B's former director of seafood merchandising, procurement, and new product development, who was killed last March in a snowmobile accident in Breckinridge, Colo.

Catanzaro, a 30-year veteran of the seafood industry and a 17-year supermarket veteran, was considered a true visionary in his field, representing the U.S. retail seafood industry in a variety of capacities from Europe to Asia to South America.

Catanzaro was a member of the board of directors for the National Fisheries Institute, for which he served as chairman of the retail committee.

NFI says the fund has gotten off to an excellent start, but a total of $50,000 is needed to complete it. Once the fund is established, a scholarship will be given to a deserving student each year in Catanzaro's name for the advancement of marketing in the seafood industry.

Contributions to the fund can be made to the "Fisheries Scholarship Fund," 7918 Jones Branch Dr., Suite 700, McLean, VA 22102. For credit card payment please contact Tony Pelegrin at (703) 752-8884 or [email protected].
