NSF International Appoints New General Manager to Head Retail Food Safety Programs

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Food safety certifying agency NSF International here has promoted Patrick Pimentel as the new general manager of NSF's Retail Food Safety Programs.

In his new position, Pimentel will be responsible for operations and market strategy development for NSF's Retail Food Safety Division, in addition to continuing his technical role in the Dine Safer restaurant food safety inspection program and the FreshCheck supermarket food testing and certification program.

Pimentel is a certified professional food manager; he has a master's of science and education degree in public health from the University of Toledo and a bachelor's degree in biology also from the University of Toledo.

"Patrick has played a key role in the expansion of NSF's Retail Food Safety Programs," said Nancy Culotta, v.p. of NSF Retail Food Safety Programs. "In his new role as general manager, he will continue to be a key player in positioning NSF as the foremost auditing and certification authority in the retail food industry. Ultimately, this will benefit restaurants, retailers, regulators and consumers concerned about the safety of their food."

Since 1944, NSF International has been certifying products and writing food safety standards for restaurants, supermarkets, and food processing establishments.
