Partnership for Food Safety Education Names New Exec Director

WASHINGTON - Shelley Feist is the new executive director of the Partnership for Food Safety Education (PFSE), a public/private coalition dedicated to educating the public about safe food handling and food security.

In her new post, Feist will utilize her 15 years' experience with issues related to non-profit associations, including government relations, alliance building, issues management and grant procurement.

Created in 1997, members of the partnership represent all aspects of the food industry and allied trade, as well as government and consumers.

"We are confident that with the guidance of Ms. Feist, the partnership will quickly grow and expand ultimately benefiting consumers with increased frequency of message. In addition, her leadership will continue to strengthen relationship between industry, government and consumers while ensuring that each organization's interests are protected," said Tim Hammonds, chairman of the organization and c.e.o. of Food Marketing Institute.

The partnership is the architect of Fight BAC, a campaign aimed to help reduce foodborne illnesses through government outreach, private industry initiatives, school education programs, and media placements.
