Pathmark and Fleet Bank Partner to Raise Funds for Community Food Banks
CARTERET, N.J. - Pathmark Stores announced today that it has kicked off its 12th year of raising money for the Community Food Banks in its New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia and Delaware supermarkets.
The program called, "Check-Out Hunger," is a fund drive conducted at Pathmark's checkout counters where customers can add $1, $3, or $5 to their order as a way of assisting the less fortunate. Fleet Bank, with nearly 450 branches in New Jersey, is also collecting donations on behalf of the Food Bank. Over 50 of these branches are located inside Pathmark stores.
In addition to assisting those affected by hunger on a year-round basis, the Food Bank has also helped in the relief program of the World Trade Center tragedy. For example, the Food Bank has processed and shipped trailer loads of food and supplies to Lower Manhattan along with providing meals for those involved in the cleanup effort. The
Community Food Bank will continue to assist in the relief effort while maintaining its focus on supplying food to over 1500 charitable organizations in New Jersey.
