Penn Traffic Supermarket Chain Launches Three Programs to Help Victims Of National Tragedy

The Penn Traffic Company has launched three programs to help victims of the recent national tragedy.

First, the company will donate snacks and drinks to blood banks where it operates supermarkets under the Big Bear, Big Bear Plus, Bi-Lo, P&C and Quality trade names.

In addition, all Penn Traffic supermarkets are also setting up a disaster relief fund that will allow shoppers to make monetary donations of any amount while shopping. Customers will be able to add the donation to their purchase by telling the checker the amount they wish to give. The customer will receive a receipt for the amount of the donation. All donated money will go into the Penn Traffic Disaster Relief Fund to help victims of the recent national tragedy.

A second way for customers to donate is being offered through a current program to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund through the purchase of paper sneakers. The proceeds from the purchase of sneakers will now be split between the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Penn Traffic Disaster Relief Fund.
