Price Chopper Hires VP Merchandising

Golub Corp./Price Chopper Supermarkets has named Russell Zwanka to the newly created position of VP of merchandising. Zwanka will report directly to Joe Kelley, Price Chopper’s VP of sales and merchandising.

In his new role, Zwanka, whose last position was EVP of procurement and marketing at the Winnepeg, Manitoba-based North West Co., a retailer of food and everyday products and services to rural communities and urban neighborhoods across Canada, Alaska, the South Pacific the Caribbean, will oversee all merchandising initiatives and existing programs for the 117-store Price Chopper.

Additionally, Zwanka is currently pursuing a doctorate in international business from the International School of Management in Paris.

Schenectady, N.Y.-based Golub owns and operates Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The family-owned company employs more than 23,000 associates, who collectively own 55 percent of the its privately held stock.
