SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Golub Corp./Price Chopper Supermarkets said Friday that it bolstered its management team with two new appointments: Richard Bauer, named to the position of c.i.o.; and Mark Brown, promoted to director of bakery operations.

Bauer will take charge of information systems and technology strategy for the Northeast regional chain, and will report to John Endres, s.v.p./c.f.o. He comes to Price Chopper from A&P, where he served as chief technical officer. Before that, he was v.p. and c.i.o. for Unilever North America.

As director of bakery operations, Brown will handle merchandising, sales, and profits for bakery operations, reporting to Jerry Golub, v.p. of perishables. Brown most recently served in the capacities of store manager, and manager of bakery merchandising at Price Chopper. Prior to joining the chain, he worked in operations at Wakefern Food Corp.; and before that was employed by First National Supermarkets in bakery operations.

The Golub Corp. owns and operates 110 Price Chopper stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. The family-owned company employs more than 23,000 associates who collectively own 55 percent of the company's privately held stock.
