Price Chopper To Open Four Grocery Stores In Topeka
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Price Chopper, based here, will venture beyond its core market here for the first time, with four newly converted stores in Topeka.
The stores, former Food4Less that Price Chopper had acquired, are slated to open in mid-March following.
"Price Chopper is 'just right' for Topeka," said Stan Edde, Price Chopper/Topeka's general manager. "Many Topekans are familiar with the Price Chopper brand, with our highly competitive pricing, and the quality and variety of our fresh produce and meat, and groceries. For those that have shopped Price Chopper in the last couple of years, they've seen the company's industry-leading standards for customer service and store appearance.
"We'll have state-of-the art stores with butchers in the meat department, and full bakeries," Edde continued. "You won't find pre-cut and plastic shrink-wrapped meat shipped from out-of-state, or 'fresh' bakery items cooked a day or two earlier and shipped-in."
In metropolitan Kansas City, 43 stores, owned by five families, carry the Price Chopper banner. The new Topeka stores are owned by Kansas City-based Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG), the nation's second largest grocery cooperative.
