Raley's Chooses Unicru to Optimize Work Force Selection

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Raley's Family of Fine Stores has selected Portland, Ore.-based Unicru as its hiring management system. Unicru's solution is being used by the privately held company's four banners: Raley's, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods, and Food Source, comprising 138 locations in Northern California, Nevada, and New Mexico.

Unicru spokeswoman Kim Beasley told Progressive Grocer: "Raley's. . . will be using all the elements of Unicru's Total Workforce Acquisition Solution for grocers, including grocery-specific environmental fit questions and the new safety performance assessment, which will help the grocer reduce worker compensation claim rates by identifying the likelihood an individual will be involved in a workplace accident and how long they are likely to stay off work afterward."

Additional elements of the solution, according to Beasley, include three job-specific employee selection modules focusing on the key personality traits and skills associated with job success in key grocery positions. The modules are designed around segment-specific, validated assessments with occupation-related questions.

"Raley's has also implemented work opportunity tax credit screening and an interface to its payroll system to eliminate re-entry of personnel information," Beasley added.

"After doing thorough research, we decided Unicru would meet Raley's standards of high quality and customer-oriented service while helping us deliver on our corporate commitment to our customers and employees," said Raley's s.v.p., human resources Jeff Szczesny in a statement.

"The Unicru solution will help Raley's continue to offer a high-quality supermarket experience by using the best hiring practices across all locations," said Unicru president and c.e.o. Chris Marsh.
