Ralphs Makes Donation to Girl Scouts
LOS ANGELES - Ralphs supermarkets and Food 4 Less stores have partnered with the Girl Scouts -- Mt. Wilson Vista Council to help "Build Bright Futures" for girls in Los Angeles County's San Gabriel Valley affected by the instability and insecurity of homelessness.
The supermarket chains' charitable arm, The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation, is providing a $10,000 grant to the Girl Scouts -- Mt. Wilson Vista Council to underwrite its newly established Building Bright Futures program for girls residing at Euclid Villa, a transitional housing facility for homeless families in Pasadena.
Representatives from The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation will present the $10,000 donation at a special ceremony today at 4:30 p.m. at the Girls Scouts -- Mt. Wilson Vista Council office at 101 East Wheeler Avenue in Arcadia. Brenda Berg, executive director of the Mt. Wilson Vista Council, will accept the donation.
"At Ralphs and Food 4 Less, we believe in investing in the communities in which we operate," said John Burgon, president of Ralphs Supermarkets and chairman of The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation. "We believe very strongly that the health and welfare of our youth is vital. That's why we are pleased to partner with the Girl Scouts -- Mt. Wilson Vista Council in supporting its Building Brighter Futures program which truly benefits girls and young women who are most in need."
