Roche Bros. and Bagel Chain Strike a Deal
WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Roche Bros. Supermarkets, Inc. here and Finagle a Bagel have joined forces in a deal allowing the Newton, Mass.-based bagel shop chain to be the exclusive provider of fresh bagels in the bakery departments of all of the New England retailer's stores.
Finagle a Bagel offers a broad assortment of bagels in a self-serve format.
Finagle a Bagel co-president Laura Trust told Progressive Grocer that the bagels started arriving at Roche Bros. locations at the start of December. In addition to bagels, Finagle a Bagel offers sandwiches, salads, soups, and other items at 20 retail locations.
Roche Bros. officials were unavailable for comment yesterday.
Family-owned and -operated Roche Bros. operates 17 Roche Bros. and Sudbury Farms stores in eastern Massachusetts, employing over 3,400 associates.
