Rutter's Rolls Out Newest Store Design

Rutter's Farm Stores last week debuted its latest store design to the public, with the first of 10 new locations scheduled in a record year of expansion for the Pennsylvania convenience store operator.

The 5,200-square-foot store, located in Springettsbury Township, Pa. and open 24 hours, features a modern, environmentally friendly design, including a white roof that will keep the building cooler while lowering energy demand. The interior has open ceilings and makes liberal use of floor and wall tiles that extend into bathrooms with floating ceilings, music, and other upscale touches.

The store also offers Rutter's latest foodservice menu, including custom stir-fry, fajitas, and fresh-baked bread. Customers are able to put together their own "oriental bowls" by mixing and matching chicken, beef or pork, with fried rice, white rice, noodles, or veggies. They also can choose from an assortment of toppings and dressings.

Among the store's other amenities are 18 fueling positions, a self-serve premium-coffee island, seating, and a no-fee M&T Bank ATM.

"This is an exciting time of growth for Rutter's, particularly as we introduce our most advanced design ever," noted the company's president and c.e.o., Scott Hartman.

Rutter's is in the middle of the most ambitious growth plans in its 40-year history. The company will invest over $55 million this year to construct 10 stores and 11 car washes, which will add 350 new jobs -- and over $4.5 million in annual wages and benefits -- to the local economy.

Family-owned and third generation-managed, Manchester Township, Pa.-based Rutter's operates 52 convenience stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, and Lancaster counties.
