Save Mart Featuring Gourmet Coffee Kiosks

Save Mart last week began featuring Pacific Coast Café Kiosks at selected Save Mart and Lucky stores in northern California and northern Nevada to deliver a coffee bar experience to its shoppers at value prices.

Through Feb. 10, Save Mart and Lucky shoppers will receive a $3 coupon towards the cost of a beverage at the kiosks. One Pacific Coast Café customer will win an Apple iPod, while another will win a year's worth of free coffees.

"A stop at the coffee bar has become an integral part of the shopping experience, and we've gotten used to spending amazing amounts of money for a custom-mixed or blended cup of joe," said Rick Smith, VP of Fresh for Save Mart. "Pacific Coast Café believes that a great cup of java should come with a great price. Whether the drink you want is straightforward or exotic, you will find that Pacific Coast Café prices won't take a big chunk out of your budget. In today's economic climate, that kind of value will resonate with our customers."

Product offerings include drip coffee, cappuccino, a blended iced Kona mocha, frozen hot chocolate, and a hot chai tea. All large espresso drinks include three espresso shots, and customers are treated to a free drink for every eight they purchase.

The Cafés also offer gourmet pastries and high-fiber snacks, along with gift items such as coffee and tea accessories. A Kid’s Café menu section offers apple juice, hot chocolate and other beverages appropriate for young shoppers.

In addition, Pacific Coast Café offers a collection of whole-bean and ground coffees sold by the pound, both at the kiosks and on Save Mart and Lucky store shelves. Selections include single-origin coffees such as Colombian Jardin, Costa Rican La Sonrisa, Guatemalan Arte Maya de Café and Ethiopian Sidamo, and blends and flavors such as Signature House Blend, French Roast, Breakfast Blend, Chocolate Decadence, Cinnamon Hazelnut, Caramel Swirl, and French Vanilla.

"The name Pacific Coast Café conjures images of rocky beach cliffs, gnarled cypress trees and charming coastal towns," added Smith. "Those images inspired the design of our coffee bars and the names of the beverages. Our customers will be drawn in by the welcoming look of the kiosks, stay to sample the exciting menu and return for the quality, value, and service."

Save Mart Supermarkets operates 250 stores throughout northern California and northern Nevada under the Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky and FoodMaxx banners.
