Save Mart Launches Children’s Nutrition Education Series

Save Mart and Lucky Supermarkets in Northern California and Northern Nevada this past Saturday hosted its first session of “SuperProduce Story Time” -- story-telling classes developed to help children discover fresh fruits and vegetables.

The sessions will be held in the stores’ produce departments at 10 a.m. every Saturday through Aug. 29.

“We have a responsibility to educate our children so they can make healthy food choices throughout their lives,” said Sharon Blakely, nutrition supervisor for Modesto, Calif.-based Save Mart. “Every story we tell during a SuperProduce Story Time session broadens the children’s food horizons. Our SuperFriends make it fun to learn about good nutrition.”

SuperProduce Story Time gathers children together in Save Mart and Lucky stores to hear a story that delivers a message of healthy eating as they snack on such healthy foods as watermelon, broccoli or baby carrots.

Save Mart operates more than 240 stores throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada under the Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky and FoodMaxx banners.
