Save Mart To Shed New Light On Stores

MODESTO, Calif. -- Save Mart Supermarkets, one of the largest retail food chains in the Western United States, will upgrade the lighting at its 121 store and warehouse sites throughout Northern and Central California. The chain will replace or retrofit its current systems with energy-efficient lamps or electronic ballasts, under a multiyear, multimillion-dollar contract with Anaheim, Calif.-based Amtech Lighting Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of ABM Industries, Inc.

"In its entire history, Save Mart has been extremely conscious of energy conservation and taken steps to protect our world's limited resources," said Save Mart director of engineering Ray Agah in a statement.

Amtech provides comprehensive interior, exterior, and illuminated sign maintenance programs that considerably cut long-term energy and service expenses. For its efforts in energy conservation, Amtech was named the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency's "Green Lights Ally of the Year." The company operates 31 full-service branch offices across the United States.
