ShopRite Store to Host Free Health and Heritage Fair to Mark Hispanic Heritage Month

ELIZABETH, N.J. -- In observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, Wakefern Food Corp., based here; ShopRite of Passaic-Clifton, N.J.; and St. Mary's Hospital of Passaic will host a Health and Heritage Fair. The event, which will be held Sept. 30 at ShopRite of Passaic-Clifton from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., will promote wellness and educate adults and children alike on a variety of health issues. Registered nurses, clinical dietitians, physical therapists, and a pediatrician will be present to conduct health screenings and answer questions.

Among the scheduled free activities are:

--Bone density screening provided by ShopRite of Passaic-Clifton Pharmacy

--Blood pressure screening provided by ShopRite of Passaic-Clifton Pharmacy

--Body-fat analysis provided by St. Mary's Hospital

--Healthy cooking and eating presentations

--From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., a talk on children's health by pediatrician Dr. Elliot Samet, who will also answer questions

--A free cold turkey sandwich to each participant who signs a contract to quit smoking "cold turkey"

--Healthy product samples provided by ShopRite

--Free scrunchy bears given away (while supplies last) to kids who visit the "Teddy Bear" clinic to learn how to take care of their health.
