Smart & Final Extends UWG Supply Agreement
LOS ANGELES -- Smart & Final Inc. has extended its existing agreement with grocery wholesaler Unified Western Grocers (UWG) for the latter to supply the chain's stores in the Pacific Northwest and portions of northern California. The agreement between the companies extends the supply arrangement to November 2008, with an additional two-year extension option.
Under the agreement, UWG will continue to supply selected Smart & Final stores with food products, perishables, and dry goods, and also provide certain support services to Smart & Final's Cash & Carry stores. Smart & Final operates 48 Cash & Carry stores in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and northern California.

Founded in 1871 in downtown Los Angeles, Smart & Final Inc. currently operates 235 non-membership warehouse stores for food and foodservice supplies in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, and northern Mexico.
