Smith’s, UFCW Local 1564 Reach Tentative Contract Agreement

Smith’s Food & Drug yesterday came to a tentative agreement on a new contract with United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1564 of Albuquerque, N.M.

The tentative agreement covers more than 2,000 Smith’s associates who work in 26 stores in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Farmington and the surrounding areas.

“Both Local 1564 and Smith's came together and worked hard to reach an agreement that provides quality jobs, increased wages and affordable, quality health care for associates and their families. This tentative agreement also keeps Smith’s competitive in this marketplace,” noted Jim Hallsey, president of Smith's Food & Drug.

The UFCW will present the fully recommended tentative agreement to its members for ratification during several meetings at various locations. Details of the tentative agreement have not been released, pending ratification.

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Kroger-owned Smith’s operates 133 stores throughout seven western states.
