Stater Bros. to Build New Full Service Supermarket in Highland

COLTON, Calif. -- Regional independent Stater Bros. Markets plans to build a new 44,000 sq. ft. "Blue Ribbon" full service supermarket to serve the City of Highland and the surrounding communities.

The new store will be constructed by Stater Bros. Development, which serves as the general contractor for Stater Bros. Markets, and construction will start immediately upon plan approval by the City of Highland.

The new facility will include:

-- Full service seafood department, and a meat department with Stater Bros. butchers to provide preparation tips to shoppers
-- Hot deli offering a selection of salads, premium deli meats, a variety of domestic and imported cheeses, sandwiches-to-go, including new "Sandwich Classics" using La Brea fine rolls, party trays, quick and easy hot lunches and dinners, and Golden Fried Chicken
-- Hot Bakery featuring daily fresh baked artisan breads, cookies, rolls, elegant desserts, and custom-made cakes, including picture cakes
-- Expanded produce department featuring more than 800 fresh produce items
-- Floral department with fresh-cut flower bouquets, silk arrangements, potted plants, and balloons
-- Full service Super Rx Pharmacy
-- The addition of energy efficient skylights to incorporate the use of daylighting and help the environment

The opening is planned for Fall 2006.

Stater Bros. operates 162 Supermarkets, with more than 17,000 employees, and had annual sales in 2005 of $3.4 billion.
