Steamy Doings at '3-A-Day of Dairy Day' at Pa. Farm Show

PHILADELPHIA - Pennsylvania's dairy promotion programs will get steamy at the Pennsylvania Farm Show on "3-A-Day of Dairy Day," Tuesday, Jan. 11, during the Culinary Connection in the Main Exhibition Hall of the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa.

Area chefs and Culinary Arts faculty and students from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) are joining forces with American Dairy Association & Dairy Council Mid East, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association, and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program to present milk steamers and other delicious dairy dishes. Every hour, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Farm Show attendees can sample the recipes and learn how to make them.

Each chef will create milk steamers (hot, frothy, flavored milk) before demonstrating his or her own dairy recipes. Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Dennis C Wolff will help out at a chef's milk steamer preparation at 1:00 p.m. For those who wish to prepare steamers at home, the Kitchen Shoppe of Carlisle, Pa. will sell Torani syrups and frothers.

From noon to 1:00 p.m., Deanna Segrave-Daly, a registered dietitian and spokesperson for Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association, will make 3-A-Day of Dairy dishes designed for Super Bowl parties. As an added bonus, each recipe provides a serving of milk, cheese or yogurt.

"We're excited to partner 3-A-Day of Dairy with the Culinary Connection at Farm Show," Segrave-Daly said in a statement. "These recipes offer easy ways to get the daily recommendation of calcium with three servings of milk, cheese, or yogurt for stronger bones and better bodies."

Brochures, which will be available at the Culinary Connection or at local Giant Foods or Weis Markets grocery stores, will include recipes for Cheesy Chicken Crunchers, Touchdown Taco Salad, Roasted Red Pepper Yogurt Dip, and Super "Bowl" Pudding. The brochure also tells consumers how to get a football-shaped cheese board customized with their favorite National Football League team logo.
