Store Closing Sales Start at Bruno’s Banners

Store closing sales began Friday at 25 Bruno’s, Food World and FoodMax supermarkets in Alabama and Florida, at which discounts of up to 50 percent are being offered on a huge inventory of brand foods and beverages, household products and general merchandise.

“Shoppers will find these stores very well stocked,” said Michael Keefe, CEO of Hilco Merchant Resources, the Northbrook, Ill.-based liquidator that was joint bidder with C&S Wholesale Grocers division Southern Family Markets for the 56 Bruno’s banner stores auctioned off earlier this month. Of the 56 locations, which were purchased for $45.8 million, 25 are undergoing liquidation.

“Drastic price reductions and a great selection will make for a very short sale,” added Keefe. “Consumers should not miss this very rare opportunity for tremendous savings at a time when value is so important to so many people.”

Store fixtures and equipment at the affected locations are also for sale.

The liquidation sales are being held at Bruno’s locations in Birmingham, Hoover, Mobile, Montgomery, and Orange Beach, Ala., and San Destin and Gulf Breeze, Fla.; Food World stores in Sylacauga, Birmingham, Demopolis, Dora, Gadsden, Gardendale, Jasper, McCalla, Monroeville, Moody, Pell City and Prattville, Ala.; and FoodMax units in Oxford and Northport, Ala.
