Sunkist Brings Grins to Mississippi

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. -- Sunkist Growers sent 20,000 packages of fresh Apple Grins to Mississippi in the wake of hurricane Katrina.

The pre-washed packages of apple slices are one item in Sunkist's popular Fun Fruit school lunch product line, sure to bring smiles and sustenance to kids and adults affected by the disastrous weather event that upset their lives.

"We believe a wholesome, pre-packaged fresh fruit item like Apple Grins will be a welcome addition to the diets of these folks who have been through so much," said Jeff Gargiulo, president and c.e.o. of Sunkist Growers. Additionally, each portion meets a half-cup requirement of fruit for kids in the daily recommendations.

Mississippi school students are no strangers to the line of Fun Fruit, already having had the benefit of Sunkist Orange Smiles and Pineapple Pals, as well as Grins, as part of their school lunch programs.

Sunkist is the world's oldest and largest citrus marketing cooperative, owned by 6,000 citrus growers in California and Arizona.
