Supervalu Renews Agreement with Ukrop's

MINNEAPOLIS - Supervalu on Tuesday announced it has renewed its supply agreement with Ukrop's Super Markets in Richmond, Va. The new five-year contract, which is now effective, includes grocery, frozen, dairy, produce, meat, deli, bakery, general merchandise and health and beauty care products, which will be supplied to 27 Ukrop's stores and one Joe's Market store.

"We are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Supervalu," said Bobby Ukrop, president and CEO of Ukrop's Super Markets. "Through consistent quality and service, we are able to focus our efforts on what we're known for, innovative, world-class grocery retailing."

Supervalu strengthened its Mid-Atlantic presence through its acquisition of Richfood Holdings in 1999. Since then, the company has been a top player in that region's grocery retail channel by expanding its own retail operations as well as by providing logistics services to some of the Mid-Atlantic's leading independently operated grocery chains.
