Sweetbay Supermarket Taps Top Wal-Mart Exec as Human Resources VP

Sweetbay Supermarket, the Tampa, Fla.-based supermarket chain of Delhaize Group, said yesterday that former Wal-Mart exec Lori Malcolm has joined it as v.p. of human resources.

Malcolm's primary responsibilities, according to the grocer, include "promoting Sweetbay's passion for food and passion for people" among associates, senior managers, and operating officers and directors. She will also be responsible for enhancing Sweetbay's corporate culture and values, with the goal of helping to create a vibrant place to work.

With more than 20 years of experience in the areas of finance, marketing, information technology, and human resources management, Malcolm brings expertise in developing effective organizations and building high performing teams, Sweetbay said.

Previously she held the title of senior director of human resources transformation at Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. She was one of five leaders selected across all human resources areas to design the next generation of HR within the organization.

Prior to working for Wal-Mart, Malcolm held various positions in marketing and recruitment for Disney Worldwide Services, Inc., Robert Half International, and IBM Corp.
