Tesco to Outsource Jobs to India

LONDON - Largest U.K. supermarket chain Tesco has said it will relocate 420 business support positions from three centers in the United Kingdom to Bangalore, India.

The affected locations are Cardiff, Dundee, and Welwyn Garden City. According to the company, workers will have the opportunity to be reassigned. "Everybody will be offered an alternative role at Tesco. Last year we had 350 roles that were moved and 70 percent of the staff that were affected took up alternative positions at Tesco," a spokeswoman told Reuters.

A major factor in the move is India's comparatively cheap yet skilled English-speaking work force.
