Wal-Mart Says July Comp Sales Sunny
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores here said Saturday that it estimated U.S. same-store sales growth for July was at 4.4, falling solidly within its earlier guidance of 3 to 5 percent.
In its weekly prerecorded sales call, the retailer said that for the last week in July, same-store sales were stronger for food than for general merchandise. It also said the West proved to be its strongest region for the period.
