Wegmans Green Lights Baltimore-area Store
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Wegmans Food Markets here has announced plans to open its first Maryland store at the Hunt Valley Mall in suburban Baltimore.
Wegmans will serve as an anchor at Hunt Valley, a largely vacant enclosed mall that is being transformed into an upscale, open air, Main Street-type shopping and entertainment center. Hunt Valley is accessible by light rail from Baltimore and currently counts Sears and Wal-Mart as tenants.
Wegmans originally planned to open its first Maryland store in Timonium, but withdrew those plans in late January because of heavy opposition from business and community groups.
