Weis Names New Foodservice/Deli, Pharmacy Ops Leaders

Weis Markets has added two new executives from outside the company to lead its foodservice/deli and pharmacy operations. Geoffrey Wexler has joined the Sunbury, Pa.-based grocery chain as its new director of foodservice and deli, while Dennis Yoney has been named new director of pharmacy operations.

In his new post, Wexler, who comes to Weis from Publix Supermarkets, where he helped oversee all aspects of the Lakeland, Fla.-based grocer’s prepared foods program, will oversee the pricing, procurement and promotion for the company’s deli and foodservice programs. Reporting to Harry Giglio, VP of perishables, Wexler previously held positions at Sodexho Corporate Services, NexStore Marketplace, and eatZi’s Market and Bakery.

As Weis Markets’ new pharmacy operations director, Yoney will oversee day-to-day pharmacy operations and the execution of the company’s strategic initiatives in its 119 pharmacies. Reporting to Jeff Maltese, VP of pharmacy, Yoney, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Pharmacy, has worked in pharmacy field operations at the regional level for Rite Aid, in government affairs for Brooks/Eckerd, and as a district manager for Eckerd Drug.

Weis Markets operates 165 supermarkets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and West Virginia.
