Whole Foods Recalls 6,000 Jars of Olive Tapenade for Possible Glass Shards

AUSTIN, Texas -- Whole Foods Market said last week it was voluntarily recalling 6,000 jars of a 32,000-jar lot of its store-brand 365 Everyday Value Kalamata Olive Tapenade, because the product might contain glass fragments.

The chain decided to launch the recall after it received two reports in Texas of glass being found in the product. A Whole Foods spokeswoman told Progressive Grocer last Friday that no injuries involving the product had been reported.

The recalled product had been distributed to Whole Foods Market stores nationwide. The glass fragments came from a manufacturing incident, the Whole Foods spokeswoman said.

The chain said customers could return the affected product to their local store for a full refund.
