Winn-Dixie Sending Makeshift Pharmacies to Louisiana
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Fulfilling its pledge to cater to hurricane-hit Louisiana and simultaneously gain market share in the process, Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. here is sending portable pharmacies to damaged store locations in Slidell and New Orleans, beginning tomorrow.
The company has outfitted two mobile homes to be used as pharmacies, according to a report in the Jacksonville Business Journal.
The makeshift pharmacies will offer the same services that a typical Winn-Dixie pharmacy does, and will include computers that pharmacists can use to access insurance records, a company official told the newspaper.
The portable pharmacies would be closed once the stores are rebuilt, and could then be used for other locations as they undergo rebuilding.
