Yoke’s Promotes ‘Brain Food’ With Smart Car Sweeps

Yoke’s Fresh Markets is seeking to rev up customers’ interest in its recently launched fun and informative Brain Food Trivia contest with by giving away an environmentally friendly, energy-efficient Smart car.

Each week, the Spokane, Wash.-based 12-store independent will randomly choose 10 $10 gift card winners from a pool of correct respondents for that week’s trivia question, for which customers can enter at the regional retailer’s Web site. In early December, Yoke’s will award a grand-prize winner with a 2010 Smart car, which company officials said was selected because of the statement the car makes about “innovation, intelligence, functionality and the simple joy of driving.”

“Brain Food is intended to feed our minds the same way we feed our bodies,” said Denny York, Yoke’s VP. “Each week, we’ll feature a new question related to food and drink at yokesfoods.com, giving site visitors a fun and interesting way to learn more about the background and history of what we put in our bodies. And the bonus is that in the end, we give away a car that speaks volumes about how we feel about the economy and the environment.”

Yoke’s will display a Smart car at various Spokane area stores during the next couple of weeks to help stimulate consumer interest in the educational sweepstakes.
