Albert's Organics to Open Midwest Division

BRIDGEPORT, N.J. -- Albert's Organics, based here, said yesterday that it will open its seventh regional distribution center, to be known as its Midwest Division, in Greenwood, Ind. The DC will begin shipping May 19.

"The market for natural and organic foods in the Midwest ... is estimated to be growing at over 15 percent per year," said Leonard, Bibb, Albert's Midwest general manager, in a statement. "This increase creates a dynamic opportunity for Albert's Organics to bring its 24 years [of] experience to serve the retailers and foodservice customers in this market." Quality Assurance International has certified the ground-up 32,000-square-foot DC as an organic facility.

A subsidiary of Dayville, Conn.-based United Natural Foods, Inc., Albert's is the oldest and largest distributor of organic and natural produce and other fresh foods in the United States serving conventional and natural food retailers and foodservice operators.
