Albertsons-Savon Opens in El Paso
BOISE, Idaho - Albertsons opened its first Albertsons-Savon in El Paso today, which makes the grocer the first retailer to offer a complete food store and a complete drug store shopping experience under one roof. The company also announced that the remaining seven Albertsons food stores in El Paso will be remodeled this summer, adding a complete Sav-on drug store to each.
"We are thrilled to bring this new shopping experience to El Paso shoppers," said Jim Rice, Albertsons Southwest Division president. "Now, El Paso shoppers can have the convenience of shopping in a complete food store and a complete drug store." Rice added that Albertsons is the only retailer in the United States to operate both food stores and drug stores, now bringing the expertise of the Sav-on brand to El Paso.
Albertsons' investment in the El Paso market with the recent acquisitions and current remodelings will total more than $20 million.
In celebration of this grand opening, Albertsons will be making donations to the Child Crisis Center of El Paso, Paso del Norte Food Bank and to Habitat for Humanity of El Paso Inc. Shoppers will have opportunities to enter contests and drawings for free groceries and other prizes. Food demonstrations and other grand opening activities will take place throughout the week.
The El Paso Albertsons-Savon store will offer a complete selection of products and services including: a deli with hot ready to eat foods and heat and eat foods, an expanded Home Meal Replacement section featuring fresh fried chicken and roasted chicken, a full-service seafood and butcher block, a fresh bakery with items baked throughout the day, a drive-thru pharmacy staffed by pharmacists assisted by state-of-the-art drug interaction software, video rental, expanded cosmetics department staffed by a cosmetician, a selection of fine wines and imported beers, and a floral cooler located by the American Greeting cards and gifts.
To further serve the community, the store offers natural and organic foods throughout the store. Additional features include 30-minute photo service, as well as regular photo processing complete with a Kodak Image Magic Station able to make reprints and enlargements without a negative in five minutes.
