Earth Fare Appoints Category Manager

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Regional healthy supermarket chain Earth Fare here has tapped Erik King, a veteran in the natural food industry, for the position of category manager.

King will oversee purchasing for refrigerated, frozen, beer and wine, non-food grocery, and housewares categories at the growing regional chain.

King's career in the grocery industry began more than 30 years ago in Charlottesville, Va. at his father's store, Foods of All Nations. After working there, he accepted a position at Haddon House Foods Products as the Mid-Atlantic regional sales manger, and quickly worked his way up to v.p. of sales for the Southern Division. In that role, he doubled the size of the existing sales team, oversaw store openings from Texas to Baltimore, and strove for maximum profitably in his markets.

"Twenty years with Haddon House has given me great insight into the specialty and natural foods industries," noted King in a statement. "I know this experience will serve me well at Earth Fare, where natural and organic are such an important aspect of their food and product philosophy. I'm excited to be a part of this growing company that not only offers high-quality natural and organic foods, but also offers a shopping experience where people can learn to embrace and enjoy food."

Earth Fare has grown into a premier chain of natural foods supermarkets located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.
