Food Lion Gives Five Customers $25,000 and Food for a Year

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Regional chain Food Lion here will give five lucky winners of its Maryland-area "Fresh Makeover" giveaway today at a celebration in Pasadena, Md. The customers will take home a check for $25,000 and gift cards for $100 in groceries a week for 52 weeks.

The five Food Lion customers entered themselves in the giveaway by shopping at Food Lion during its "Fresh Makeover Celebration," which ran from Oct. 5 to Nov. 15. The more times they shopped at Food Lion and used their MVP customer cards, the more times they were entered to win.

Food Lion launched its "Fresh Makeover Celebration" after remodeling more than 60 of its stores in the Baltimore area, Maryland's Eastern Shore, and Delaware. Completed in early October, the remodels paid special attention to the fresh departments -- produce, meats, and deli/bakery. More than 40 stores added a new section called "Nature's Place," devoted entirely to natural and organic products.

Food Lion LLC, a subsidiary of Brussels-based Delhaize Group, operates 1,300 supermarkets, either directly or through affiliated entities, under the names of Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom Dollar, Harveys, and Reid's.
